Growa incorporates high quality components to ensure that the growing process is reliable and reproducible, with minimal maintenance.
Low-noise intake and extractor fans make sure that air is continually circulated around the developing plant, ensuring optimum growing conditions. Before air exits Growa, it passes through a filter packed with activated carbon to absorb any odours.
The high efficiency, automated LED light is app-controlled and produces full-spectrum output, for speedy growth and maximum harvest.
Monitoring of the internal growing compartment is undertaken by a built-in temperature and humidity sensor, with the data accessible via the app. This can be used in conjunction with the HD video camera to provide remote observation of the developing plant and its environment, with the data sent straight to any smart device.
The water reservoir has an automated integral pump and watering is controlled by the app using any smart device.
If any herbs need drying after harvesting, then the inbuilt system allows this to be undertaken effectively, ensuring the best possible preservation of the crop.
Growa has a breathable fabric pot that optimises root development and contains nutrient rich, organic, living soil. Plant friendly mycorrhizal fungi, in the supplied root boost granules, form a symbiotic relationship with the developing plant, allowing it to thrive naturally and produce a healthier, larger crop.
The door is held securely closed with a strong magnetic catch and can only be unlocked with a special device, meaning that your Growa is secure and child safe.
Everything required to grow healthy, organic plants all year round, is included. The app-controlled Growa comes fully assembled, with all the components in place and connected. Simply plug it in to an electrical socket and begin growing.

How the vision grew
The concept behind Growa was conceived by UK artist and designer, Jamie Barrett.
Jamie wanted to create an indoor grow system that people would be happy to include in any interior setting. It had to be aesthetically pleasing, automated and discreet. He built a prototype, and it was used to effectively grow a number of high yield, organic plants.
Following this initial success, after extensive testing, a small team of master craftsmen were selected, allowing the production of Growa to be scaled up but still retain the exquisite quality and charm of the original design.
Meet The Team
Jamie Barrett - Director & Designer
Jamie is passionate about nature and how it can be integrated into art. He attended the University for the Creative Arts and was voted Surrey Artist of the year in 2010 for his unique collection of interactive light sculptures. Jamie’s enthusiasm for ecology, horticulture and holistic health led to him invent Growa.
David Barrett - Director & CEO
David has a science background and, after starting his career in medical research, spent more than thirty years in the pharmaceutical industry. He served at the board level for a number of internationally reknowned companies and start-up organisations specialising in plant-based medicines.
Jonny Barrett - Director & CFO
Jonny graduated from UCL in 1998 with a degree in Human Sciences, before going on to a successful career in professional rugby with Wasps RFC. Now working in finance, he is also co-founder of sports management company, ‘Empower Sports Management’ and an ambassador for social inclusion charity, ‘School of Hard Knocks’.
Henry Madders - Director
Henry sits on the board at several companies ranging from high security to environmental business. He has lived and worked all around the world and his most exciting project to date is the development of Biocat+. This is a new organic technology that is producing outstanding results in both the horticultural and agricultural industries.
Matt Hunt - Director
Matt studied Retail Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University and has developed his career in food retailing. He has many years experience as a Director and sits on a number of boards. Matt brings commercial, transactional and marketing expertise to the Growa business, where his skills have proven extremely useful during the development process.
